Bi-Vocational Executive Pastor

Cornerstone Church’s mission is to Build Lives for Christ by Reaching, Connecting, Growing and Serving people. We have grown consistently over the past 3 years and have launched many exciting new ministries including a fully accredited seminary and church revitalization program. The ideal candidate will be someone who has been or is currently in a ministry setting. They will need to be a motivated self-starter, a life-long learner, a strategic thinker, and have a deep love for Jesus, the church and the lost.

Role Summary:

The role of an effective executive pastor is threefold: serve Jesus, serve the church, serve the lead pastor. The Executive Pastor is not a successor or a Lead-Pastor-in-training. He loves second place and is content to lead primarily from behind the scenes. This plays out in many ways:
  • The executive pastor organizes the church’s greatest resource for mission: people. The executive pastor focuses on the entire flock, aligning people with priorities. He helps manage the time and energies of key team leaders. He is a pastor who shepherds people through the Cornerstone discipleship process.
  • The executive pastor will manage the various technologic aspects of the ministry.
  • The executive pastor coordinates the use and care of the church’s facilities so that we maximize our existing resources and lay a foundation for future growth. He is a problem-solver who brings solutions to the other leaders from a biblical perspective. 
  • The executive pastor will assist in pulpit responsibilities including research and preaching responsibilities at the direction of the Lead Pastor.

Qualifications:

  • Fulfill the duties required of Cornerstone members as outlined in the membership covenant.
  • Fulfill the character qualifications of an elder as taught in the Scriptures.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Masters preferred.
  • Humble, desire to continually improve, and passion to build God’s kingdom here in the Northeast
  • Commitment to serving the Cornerstone church family in this role for at least two years to ensure a solid foundation and consistency.
  • Discretion, perseverance, patience, and sense of humor; team spirit and genuine caring.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills and gifts, builder of strategies and systems, focused on details.
  • Results-focused leadership with persuasive interpersonal skills adaptable to a variety of personalities and situations.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • 5+ years professional-level skills and experience (ministry setting preferred)
  • Strong teaching and training skills.
  • Entrepreneurial abilities, from big picture strategy to operational details.
  • Ability to lead volunteer teams, recruit, develop, and inspire people, set clear expectations and maintain accountability.
  • Understanding of how to effectively implement a K-12 Student Ministry Strategy
  • Understanding the use of technology and social media to reach, connect, and engage people
Compensation will include housing (including utilities) and salary.
